Last Shuttle Flights Delayed

NASA on Thursday selected Nov. 1 and Feb. 26 as new target launch dates for the nation's last two scheduled shuttle missions.

The new targets give engineers time to complete payload preparations for both missions and avoid heavy traffic around the International Space Station.

A Russian Soyuz crew transport will depart the station in December, and unmanned European and Japanese space freighters are due to deliver cargo to the outpost in December and January.

Also a consideration: Two periods when the station cannot generate enough electricity or dispel enough heat to support a visiting shuttle.…
